SMART Goal Number 1 – Recreational Goal
Specific : I want to learn how to play a guitar.
Measurable : I need to learn to play at least a song every month.
Achievable :
• Plan a weekly guitar lesson with the teacher.
• Practise alone at least 3 times and 2 hours per week.
Relevant :
• To prove that I can achieve my target with hard work and perseverance and it will help to build up my confidence.
• I’ve always wanted to become a ‘music type of person and this would help to build my passion in music.
Time Reference :
Date Procedures
1 By 30th of April Plan for weekly lessons with guitar teacher and let them comment on my progress every week. Learn to tune acoustic guitars.
2 By 30th of May Learn the basics of guitar and start practising on changing chords and strumming the guitar.
3 By 30th of June Start learning on plucking the guitar and learn to read more complicating chords.
4 By 30th of July Play the guitar for my church friends to enjoy the music and join them in playing the songs.
The reasons for setting this recreational goal :
• I’ve always wanted to play the guitar. I think the playing the guitar is really cool and it would be really fun to learn how to play the guitar.
• My dream is to do music in the future and become a great composer because I’m happy when people relaxes and enjoy listening to my music.
Plans to achieve my recreational goal :
• Get weekly comments and suggestions from my teachers.
• Learn to see my own weak points and start practising and improve on them.
• Try to do a five minutes practise every night before I go to bed.
• Search for other guitar professionals on Youtube and learn from them try to learn from them.
